In 2009, we took part in the Silver Surfer Day. Several older people took laptops with them to the Fish on Fridays luncheon at the Trinity Centre to introduce those not accustomed to accessing the internet to a tiny sample of what is available online.

The Forum recently started the www.aroundlouth.org.uk web site to put together in one place the events available for older people in the area roughly ten miles radius of Louth. If you run, or know of, any groups, lunches, clubs, outings or interest groups that you wish including, please let us know.
Advice and Information Day. More than 150 visitors and stall holders met at the Trinity Centre in Louth for an Advice and Information day in October of 2009. The actual number of ‘older people’ attending to see what services, entitlements and help is available was 107. This was the first day of its kind that the committee had organised. There was a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day with advice being given, information exchanging hands and help offered. The twenty-seven invited organisations were augmented by other welcome charities and two businesses who came on the day to give additional information to visitors.
The event was opened by Cllr Doreen Stephenson, the Leader of East Lindsey District Council. Doreen was one of the founding members of our Seniors’ Forum back in 2004. The photograph shows the then Vice Chair, Marjorie Barnes, the Chair, Sara Morris with Doreen Stephenson and the Louth Town Centre Manger, Mark Barnes.
Membership of Louth & District Seniors’ Forum is free and open to anyone over 50 in an approximate area of 10 miles radius of Louth. The benefit of becoming a member is that you get the quarterly newsletter ‘Open Voice’ sent to you at no cost to yourself!
