Fourth Annual General Meeting
The meetings are held in the centre of Louth in the Conoco Room above
Louth Library, LN11 0LY from 10 am until noon. There is a lift.
As well as a speaker, there will be more time this year for general conversation
and discussion at the Forum. There is always a warm welcome and refreshments
are available (suggested contribution 50p). These will be served as you
arrive and then ‘refills’ brought round during the course
of the meeting. To facilitate listening to one another, the chairs will
be set out around tables for a trial period.
Membership is free and you will then automatically
receive the quarterly newsletter. Representatives of voluntary groups
or organizations working in the area of older people are welcome to come
and share. All local councillors are also welcome.
In
September last year, the Forum was approached by Trisha Powell, a campaigner
for the saving of the number 41 bus in Louth. The Forum worked alongside
Trisha Powell in trying to get this decision, by Stagecoach to axe the
service, reversed: And together they did just that!
It was a tiring couple of months for all, but saving the bus was crucial
for the elderly people in the area. It was also an excellent example of
the Forum and others, who have had no previous connections with the Forum,
working in partnership.
Incidentally, an enhanced Louth to Lincoln Stagecoach Number 10 bus service
was announced by Paul Harvey at the start of the year but it is on a ‘Use
it or lose it’ basis!
The photograph has (4th from the left) our committee member and transport
specialist Margaret Brown and next to her (5th along) is Trisha Powell.
Both are being interviewed by BBC Look North
