Skegness & District Seniors Forum November Meeting
The
Skegness & District Seniors Forum held their November meeting at Pensioners
Hall Grantham Drive with Guest Speakers, Mark Simmonds M.P. for Boston &
Skegness explaining his role and general procedures in Westminster, and
Mr Kevin Sturgess Legacy Advisor for the East Midlands region from Help
the Aged, who gave a talk on making wills and pointed out various legal
technicalities.
The meeting was also attended by Mr Paul Hill, Managing Director of Lincolnshire
RoadCar accompanied by two other RoadCar representatives Mr Jim Carpenter
and Mr David Parsons and also present were Mr Steve O’Dare Practice
Manager of the Hawthorne Medical Centre and Ann Stray, Practice Manager
of the Beacon Medical Centre.
The forum has been very concerned about public transport servicing the
Medical Centres and was successful, with the help of Mark Simmonds, MP
for implementing the 57C bus service to the Hawthorne Medical Centre after
the SB2 had been stopped, and are now trying to get a bus service to the
Ingoldmells Medical Centre. Each representative stated their position
and Cllr Jim Dodsworth suggested more funding be made available to the
voluntary car scheme presently operating in Burgh le Marsh which transports
patients to various medical centres and hospitals.
As well as being informative the meeting was a very social occasion with
refreshments and a raffle.
The next open meeting will be at the village hall Friskney on Monday
14th February at 10am for tea and coffee, meeting commencing at 10.30am.
