Skegness & District Seniors Forum: "Highways" and "Energy Efficiency'
The September 2004 open meeting of The Skegness & District Seniors’ Forum
took place at The Baptist Hall Beresford Avenue Skegness.

Andy RatcliffeAndy Ratcliffe, Area Highways Manager, explained his role and various projects which include:

• Reducing speed of traffic
• New traffic signals
• Traffic control

and also referred to CTZ – Community Travel Zone which deals with pedestrian crossings, dropped kerbs and anything that makes it easier for the pedestrian in the town area. Uneven flagstones have been replaced with small flags in much of Skegness and is ongoing. Any individual issues requiring investigation was requested to be put in writing and local problems were raised and replied to on the spot.


Darren Adams Darren Adams from ELDC followed with a talk on Energy Efficiency explaining the various sources of fossil fuel and North Sea oil which is not an everlasting supply.

Heating the home takes up 70% of energy consumption so therefore insulation is important

• Cavity wall insulation
• Double Glazing
• Loft Insulation
• Foil behind radiators
• Draught proofing – letterboxes, doors & windows
• Energy saving light bulbs

Various samples of insulation types were passed around.
